SYNOPSIS

Being an entertainer since childhood, Dezhon immerses himself in his Tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr. He is the quintessential song-and-dance man; with his natural

ability and passion recreating the unique style of the beloved legend, Dezhon is

able to captivate his audiences.

You will be thoroughly entertained with unforgettable songs such as, “The Candy Man”, “What Kind of Fool am I”, and “I’ve Gotta Be Me”, but... Dezhon will astound you with his impeccable performance of the timeless classic "Mr. Bojangles".

With his extraordinary talent, Dezhon has toured throughout the U.S.and interna-tionally, paying homage and honoring Sammy with his recreation of Sammy's music, moves and mannerisms, while completely respecting the impact that the legend has had on generations of people.

BIOGRAPHY

Dezhon has had a passion for the performing arts since the age of 10 when he appeared in talent shows and church plays.

In 1994, while in California actively pursuing his dream to become a professional entertainer, Dezhon landed his first role as a principal dancer in a Tony Award

winning play called "Cinderella Brown" at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center; he was just 19 years old! Primarily a dancer, Dezhon continually worked to develop his skills, becoming a Ballroom and Salsa Dance Instructor.

In the late 1990's he was fortunate enough to work with Mrs. Laura Whittaker (mother of Academy Award winning Actor/Director Forrest Whittaker), performing in cultural events and inspiring elementary school students to pursue their dreams, just as he was doing!

In 2000, Dezhon moved to Washington State where he headlined a showcase of pop music at The New Phoenix Casino in La Center. The Casino Marketing Consultant, Ben Tracy approached Dezhon with the prospect of performing a Sammy Davis Jr. Tribute Show. Having been told most of his life that he has a striking resemblance to Sammy, Dezhon began exploring the life and the music of this great legend.

After extensive research and rehearsal, Dezhon began performing as Sammy Davis, Jr. with many of the major Rat Pack Shows. He quickly realized that he shared more in common with Sammy Davis, Jr. other than his looks, he also shared the love and passion of entertainment, as well as, Sammy's views and love for humanity.

In 2006 Dezhon received one of the biggest thrills of his career when he performed in “The Rat Pack” at the world famous Hollywood Palladium, in Hollywood California.

But, Dezhon is most proud of writing and co-producing, with Nate Jacobs, a tribute show called “SAMMY TONIGHT”, a One-Man Tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr. In 2012, Dezhon performed in his show in Sarasota, Florida, to sold-out audiences and rave reviews, eventually winning “THE LOUNGE ACT” of 2012.

In April 2016, Dezhon received a gracious invitation from Producers Judi Mark and Mercedes Ellington (Granddaughter of Duke Ellington) to perform in a Production called "Triple Threats 2016"; a Tribute to Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Tito Puente. This amazing production was performed at the "Friars Club" in Manhattan, NY.

In April 2018, Dezhon worked with Broadway & Off-Broadway Producer/Director, Herman LeVern Jones, adapting a sound score for the play, "A Class Act"; while performing all vocals throughout the production.

In August 2018, Dezhon produced and wrote a new stage production called

"Come Back and Dance, A Tribute to Sammy". It debuted on August 25th & 26th to an exuberant audience. On Sunday the 26th, this exciting stage production experienced seven standing ovations! Dezhon, accompanied by backup singers, dancers and a seven piece band, brought the house down with its fast flowing exciting portrayal of Sammy Davis, Jr.'s Song-and-dance style."
